"We bought 2 TB 80 EC trimmers this year. Neither one lasted longer than the first gallon of fuel. The gear housing by the head got hot on both very quickly. Neither unit ever sounded as though the gears were operating correctly. The heat produced on one unit got hot enough to melt parts of the plastic head rendering it useless. On the second unit, some of the gears stripped out. When I disassembled the gear housing on both units, I found rust on the bearing surfaces. I found this odd as I've only owned the units for about one month and have always stored them inside."

"I bought this trimmer after getting tired of dragging power cords around behind me. I owned one gas trimmer in the past, it was a different brand, and a pile of junk. I was impressed by the construction of this unit, no screw threads in plastic, etc. After actually reading and following the instructions, I started it for the first time, and it started on the second pull. I have started it 4 or 5 times since then, and it has started on the first pull every time. The power is impressive, the weight and balance are good enough for me to use it even with a bad shoulder and upper back. It has cut the trim time in half over the electrics I've used. I may have to advance the line once while trimming my entire yard, never has the line held up this good, even when trimming along a long stretch of chain link fence. It did take me a short while to get used to it, simply because it is so powerful, but nothing I've seen yet can stand up against it's trimming power. I was determined to buy a Troy-Bilt, and it has turned out to be a very good decision."

"the trimmer has no power and has problems running at full speed. The string head is a piece of junk also."
